November 2-4, 2018
(Philadelphia, PA) This November marks Kiss of the Wolf’s 42nd year exhibiting at the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show. It is a unique opportunity to meet the artist, learn about her artistic processes and experience her one-of-a-kind, wearable works of art.
The Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show is considered one of the finest contemporary craft and design shows in the world. The highly competitive jury process resulted in selecting 195 from a pool of more than 875 applicants. The result is a gathering of some of the most dynamic craft artists in the country. Their museum-quality work will include glass, baskets, jewelry, wearable and decorative fiber, metal, paper, leather, furniture, ceramic, wood and mixed media.
Kiss of the Wolf has had a long history with the show, the museum and the city. Designer Lori Bacigalupi took a year away from the studio to live and study in Philadelphia in 2010. The city of brotherly love became hers to explore. “Studying at The University of the Arts was a novel experience. Warren Seelig and Mi-Kyoung Lee remain mentors to me, she said. She was familiar with the city, having exhibited there many times, but had always wanted more. Now each year, when she returns for the show, it feels like a homecoming.
There is an endless supply of treasure in Philly, yet its most important gift to me was the inspiration gained through the friends I made there.
The Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show offers craft education with symposia, on-site artist demonstrations and student exhibitions, as well as a guest artists program. This year will feature 26 artists from Germany. In addition, the show will offer a craft beer tasting and an auction.
The show is presented annually for the benefit of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The money raised is used to purchase works of art and craft for the museum’s permanent collections, to fund conservation and publication projects and to support exhibitions and education programs.
